Preview: 2018 Formula One season

We are a few weeks away from the start of the new Formula One Grand Prix season. Here is a preview of the 2018 season:

Mercedes

The Mercedes team and Lewis Hamilton look in the best position to win both titles this year. The car is an evolution of last years race, improving in every single area. Hamilton is probably in the best shape of his life, mentally, and physically, and will be tough to beat.

Ferrari

Ferrari looks like one of the two teams most likely to challenge Mercedes for the title. However, testing performance shows them still behind the Mercedes at long run pace. The question is will Vettel be able to keep it together in the car under pressure?

Red Bull

Although it is difficult to tell from testing, it appears that Red Bull could challenge both Ferrari and Mercedes for wins this season. The car is good, with the question mark around the reliability and power of the Renault engine. If the testing form is true, Red Bull should split the Mercedes and Ferrari drivers.

Others

McLaren looks in trouble, with a lot of embarrassing testing issues going into the first race. Toro Rosso, using the new Honda engines, racked up the most laps in testing behind the top two teams. The midfield looks extremely competitive this year, with Haas looking like the team made a huge improvement over the winter.

This season is shaping up to be an extremely exciting one, with the possibility of a three-team fight for wins and a competitive midfield.
